We aim to have a max of 2 teams, of up to 12 players per team, per age level from u7-u14. For more details about our teams, visit our Teams page.
We are a year-round program, September-July.
Fall (Sept-Oct): you can expect 1 - 2 outdoor practices per week, possibly a scrimmage or two
Winter (Dec-Mar): you can expect 1 - 2 indoor practices per week
Spring/Summer (Apr-Jul): you can expect 1 - 3 weeknight league games per week, 0 - 2 outdoor practice per week, and 4 - 7 weekend tournaments per summer (varies depending on age group).
The main team that travels out of state for a special tournament are our U12 teams. These teams spend their U11 year fundraising to offset some of the cost of travel to an out of state tournament. Previous U12 tournaments have been in Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, Cooperstown, Iowa, etc. If budget allows and families are willing to participate, some older teams (U10 and up) may travel to a nearby state for a tournament as well.
Depending on age level, our teams play on various fields located in the City and Town of Brookfield. In winter, Jr Lancers Baseball practices in an indoor facility ("The Castle"). See more details on our Field and Facilities page.
Absolutely! Especially at the earliest ages where the kids are still developing their interests, we believe that engaging in multiple sports makes kids better athletes. At all ages, engaging in other sports and activities gives the player a more well rounded immersion into what it means to be apart of a team and honor one's commitments. We do ask that during the spring baseball season that baseball be their priority sport, as missing games and tournaments at a high rate can lead to forfeiture and other negative impacts to all players on the team.
Jr Lancers Baseball is a proud member of the Wisconsin State Youth Baseball League (WSYBL). For more information on league rules, visit: http://wsybl.com/pdfs/rules.pdf.
The Wisconsin State Youth Baseball League, hereafter referred to as the WSYBL, will consist of U7/1st grade, U8/2nd grade, U9/3rd grade, U10/4th grade, U11/5th grade, U12/6th grade, U13/7th grade, U14/8th grade, U15, and U16/U17 Divisions. Players in a division must either be in the specified grade or age eligible as of May 1st of the upcoming season. For example, a player in the U10/4th grade must either be in 4th grade OR cannot turn 11 before May 1st prior to the season. As in the past, younger players may play up.
The Jr Lancers preference is to play with your grade level.
Jr Lancers Baseball hosts an annual tournament called the Brookfield Bash on Father's Day Weekend. To support the needs of the tournament, each family must volunteer 4 hours of their time over the weekend. In addition to that weekend, throughout the year there are opportunities to support our fundraising efforts and other organizational gatherings where volunteers may be sought. Please check out our Volunteer page for more information on how to become more involved!
The organization typically does 3-4 organization-wide fundraisers.
